Since 1930, Eastman Gelatine has been a supplier of choice for Eastman Kodak Corporation™. For more than 75 years, we have provided a range of premium quality products that meet or exceed the rigid standards required by Eastman Kodak for their wide range of gelatin needs.

Eastman Gelatine’s history as part of the Eastman Kodak family began with its purchase in 1930. At the time, it was bought in order to assure a dependable, high quality supply of the key raw materials essential to the company’s continued growth in the photographic industry. Prior to this time, Eastman Kodak had to compete with other companies for products that met their stringent quality standards.

Quality is built into the Process and the Product

At Eastman Gelatine, quality is a key ingredient of our culture as well as an integral part of our products and processes. During many years of experience, we have created numerous quality improvement tools, methods and custom approaches to address all product and process challenges.

Over the last twenty five years, as the quality movement has taken hold in American industry, Eastman Gel has made it our top priority to produce superb quality and to control and optimize our manufacturing processes. Along with other Eastman Kodak suppliers, Eastman Gelatine integrated the multifaceted methods of the Total Quality Management (TQM) movement into every aspect and operation of our business. Quality is engineered into the product, as well as the process, from the beginning.

Less than five years after ISO 9000’s new quality management standards were published, Eastman Gel was proud to be a certified, registered and a highly recognized manufacturing facility according to those demanding guidelines.

To the present day, Eastman Gel continues to work diligently to maintain and enhance its quality system as well as its ISO certification. As part of the ongoing commitment to product and process improvement, Eastman Gel has further expanded its original certification to include ISO 14000, Kosher, Halal and FPA-SAFE.

Extensive use of scientific and statistical analysis tools

The Process Verification System (PVS) we use provides indispensable and critical data about all manufacturing processes. By continuously measuring more than 1500 process parameters, including temperature, pressure, pH and various flows and rates, Eastman Gel’s PVS provides the best products possible.

State-of-the-science methods including TQM, Six Sigma methodology

In addition to TQM, our Six Sigma™ methodology has provided more resources to supplement our existing extensive array of quality improvement tools. Additionally, our implementation of the Eastman Kodak Operating System™ (adapted from the Toyota Production System) applies the “lean manufacturing” approach to further save time and material resources while maintaining high quality standards.

Safeguarding product quality is an absolute priority

Safeguarding product quality is an absolute priority at Eastman Gel. To ensure product quality, our QA/QC laboratory constantly and meticulously monitors the quality of all in-process samples as well as final products. By maintaining rigorous production standards, we can guarantee that each customer receives the exact quality that they specify. Our high standards are maintained by using state-of-the-art testing equipment in a laboratory staffed by superbly trained and experienced technicians. These technicians use Statistical Quality Control tools to ensure the reliability and validity of all data collected for measurement and process management. The data is then used in our Comprehensive Information Management System (CIMS) for ongoing quality reviews. This same CIMS is an integral part of Eastman Gel’s commitment to continuous improvement.
