Eastman Gelatine is Active in the Community
At Eastman Gelatine, Peabody and the North Shore are more than our community, they are our home. Supporting our community is often done in quiet ways, with plant tours, and with technical employee visits to local schools to talk about manufacturing, science, mathematics and the importance of education. We do things in a quiet way because this is our community and our home, as well as where we work.
Our employees participate in many community activities and volunteer their time with often with little public recognition or fanfare. When we have something important to share we love to do that too.
- Being part of the community is important
- Building strong relationships
- Fostering the values of a good education
Being part of the community is important:
Eastman Gelatine takes great pride in being regarded as a good neighbor in the local community. Over the years, we have earned this reputation by keeping our neighbors informed of what we do and how we do it. Many of our employees contribute to the community by volunteering on city boards and through involvement in many aspects of community activities. Included in the organizations to which we contribute are the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Peabody Chamber of Commerce, the Peabody YMCA, the Peabody Conservation Committee and the Peabody Education Council.
Building strong relationships:
During the past three years we have maintained an open communication channel by sending newsletters to our neighbors, educating them on how our business is operating, what changes we are planning and how these changes may impact them and the environment. We also conduct regularly scheduled plant tours, which are open to the public, so that our neighbors can learn more about our company. We enjoy giving these tours, and have received valuable insight into how Eastman Gelatine is perceived by the community.
Fostering the values of a good education:
In order to foster a strong relationship with the local educational system, during the last several years we have invited the local school’s math classes to our facility. Eastman Gelatine's technical staff also visit the local schools and share with students how they use math and science in their jobs at the plant. We do this as a way to nurture interests in present and future education. Young adults can see first hand how education, particularly the math and sciences, are instrumental in areas of business operations and decision-making. We feel that these children are future potential employees of Eastman Gelatine and it serves us well to encourage their learning.
